Julie Wilson joins GLM
GLM is delighted to welcome award-winning architect, Julie Wilson, to the practice. Julie is a highly experienced Chartered Architect with over twenty years running her own architectural practice. Julie joins GLM as an Associate Director and has been working on a varied range of projects from domestic to private school buildings.
Julie brings with her specific expertise in sustainable and low carbon design. She qualified as a Passivhaus designer and has completed several domestic projects to this rigorous low energy standard. On her joining the team, David Johnson, Managing Director said: “We are thrilled to welcome Julie into a senior role at GLM. Not only will she be a key member in delivering well-crafted projects, her passion for the next generation, especially the women in GLM will be a huge asset to us as she mentors them.”

Julie commented: “After many years working for myself, I am delighted to start a new chapter in my career by joining the multi-disciplinary GLM Team, gaining the opportunity to work on such a diverse range of architectural projects and to help provide support for the next generation of young professionals within office”.
Julie’s work has been widely admired in architectural awards and competitions. Her projects have won Scottish Home of the Year in 2011 and 2013, as well as recognition from Scottish Design Awards, Scotland’s Housing Expo and The Chartered Institute of Building (Scotland). The architectural team at GLM will benefit from Julie’s knowledge and mentorship, and we look forward to the impact she has on our practice and projects.


As well as working in practice, Julie teaches design to Architecture students at The University of Edinburgh and is an assessor for the final professional exam in Architecture (RIBA Part 3). She has also held numerous positions representing her profession namely as President of the Edinburgh Architectural Association (EAA) and a trustee and non-executive board member for the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
