The Fountain Bar

Location: Edinburgh

Our Mission

GLM was appointed by the Shilling Group to architecturally design and project manage the transformation of a traditional pub in an up-and-coming area of Edinburgh.

GLM was appointed by the Shilling Group to design and project manage the transformation of a traditional yet rough and uninspiring pub (known amongst locals as ‘Vietnam’). Located in the former brewery district of Edinburgh, GLM stepped in to provide design and building work.

Working with contractor Prime Property Ventures and interior design firm, NoChintz, the pub received a full re-design of the space.

GLM delivered a turnkey service to the client and in less than 3 months since the work started the bar opened for business and confidently exudes an overall calming, vintage and ‘up-cycled’ feel.

The completed space confirms the whole design teams’ efforts in creating and bridging the gap between old and new in this sophisticated yet inviting pub.

"I felt very comfortable and confident GLM were going to achieve our desired outcome right from the first meeting. Each meeting after that gave me even more confidence. They listened, asked the right questions, and delivered on time and within budget."
