Newbattle Terrace

Location: Edinburgh

Our Mission

Working with property developer Seven Hills Property, GLM designed and project managed the extension and modernisation of a mid-terrace property on Newbattle Terrace.

When property developer Seven Hills Property Limited spotted this tired property they knew they could give it the tender loving care needed for its modernisation in to the 21st Century.

GLM were commissioned to develop an extension to the lower ground floor of this Victorian mid-terrace to form open plan living spaces with a bigger kitchen.

We were appointed to design and project manage this property overhaul working closely with trusted contractor, True Build. The property occupies the ground and lower ground floor now boasting a stunning contemporary garden room to the rear. Internal alterations designed by the architecture team included an additional bathroom on the ground floor and the formation of a master suit including bedroom, dressing room and en-suite.

On the lower ground floor a small extension was demolished and replaced with a single storey south facing garden room clad with charred larch.

Throughout the property traditional features including cornicing have been retained keeping the tradition alive in a much modernised property.

Following the completion of works, the property was put on the market for re-sale.

"Having worked with GLM on a large development project, I find the their approach to be professional, flexible and of a high quality. They very much operate as one team, meaning I could always get in contact with someone and felt continually supported. I would absolutely recommend GLM as an architect and have since engaged them on a subsequent development project."

Nicola Brannan, Managing Director, Seven Hills Property Ltd.
