Highland Lodge – Loch Rannoch
Our Mission
GLM provided architectural services to adapt and renovate a Highland Lodge on Loch Rannoch
Nestled on the waters edge amongst mature native woodlands sits this substantial stone and slate vernacular style Highland lodge, with its uninterrupted views over Loch Rannoch. The house dates back to the late 1800’s with Edwardian style principal rooms and detailing.
GLM, alongside main contractor Laurence McIntosh, undertook the challenge of fully refurbishing and extending the lodge, which involved upgrading the building services, creation of 3 bedrooms to bring the total accommodation to 9 bedrooms and additions to the recreational facilities at the lodge.
A new Spa Wing with loch side views was also integrated at the lodge, providing a large hot tub, gym and steam room, as well as an outdoor shower for those brave enough to dip in the loch.
The refurbishment of the lodge has allowed the owners to take full advantage of the panoramic scenery, while also undergoing some fundamental changes to the property’s infrastructure so that it would be fit for 21st century living and the needs of its multi-generational visitors who arrive well rested at Rannoch Station on the infamous sleeper train.
The property and lochside views are now enjoyed by the owners, family and friends. It is truly a Highland treasure surrounded by nature, and the lodge a pleasure to visit and stay.
