GRO FOR YOU COMMUNITY INNOVATION CAMPUS
Our Mission
GRO For You CIC approached GLM to design a Community Innovation Campus in Tain, bringing together vocational training, skills development, hospitality and sustainable enterprise.
Gro For You CIC is a collaboration between two social enterprises that have come together to develop a Community Innovation Campus at Tain, Highlands. The vision was to create a forward-thinking campus that would support innovation, employability and community growth in the Highlands.
The Campus will pioneer new-age technologies and sustainable practices, in the hope of driving greater innovation, employability and enterprise. The Campus will link schools, industry, community and tourists, forming a centre of excellence that benefits the whole area.
In line with the innovative nature of this project, the campus will be one of a kind, siting a variety of geodesic domes which will house research facilities, an interpretation centre, and aquaponic growing areas. Further facilities are provided within the Training Centre, which will host office space, a training kitchen and cafe – linking on-the-job training to the syllabus of those learning at the Innovation Campus.
Working with the Gro For You Project Team, GLM have devised spaces that are complementary to a variety of users and needs. GLM teamed up with HarrisonStevens to create a high-quality surrounding outdoor space, in recognition of the positive benefits on mental, physical and emotional health. Holistically, the plans reflect the overarching vision to create a sustainable future for this community.
The project is awaiting planning approval and has been awarded £450,000 in funding from the Scot Gov Regeneration Capital Grant Fund.
