MARINE SCOTLAND ELLIS BUILDING
Our Mission
GLM was initially engaged as part of the expert witness team assisting the Scottish Government in identifying the cause of and liability for performance failures in a new laboratory at the ‘Ellis Building’ in Aberdeen.
Our brief expanded to the forensic dismantling of the laboratories and supporting building fabric to establish and record the extent of design and construction failings.
We were subsequently appointed as Architect and Principal Designer to design and co-ordinate all non-M&E work relating to the laboratory rebuild, thereby rectifying the defects and achieving performance criteria.

This resulted in GLM redesigning much of the laboratory space and supporting building fabric: coordinating the refit with new M&E services; undertaking internal fitout and alteration; and upgrading external building fabric. GLM provided sub-consultant services to the project for QS, Structural Engineer, and Landscape Architect.
