St. Oswald’s Centre
Our Mission
St. Oswald's Centre is undergoing a refurbishment and upgrading project, bringing it from a disused church and hall into a community hub for childcare, leisure and recreational activities.
St. Oswald’s Church and Hall is a community-owned space in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh. The facility was formerly used by Boroughmuir High School, but in 2018 the buildings were abandoned. The community took this as an opportunity to bring the buildings into community ownership, and so, the St. Oswald’s Centre was born.
The vision for the buildings is to create a vibrant, family-focused community hub with facilities for clubs, classes and leisure activities. This revived building will become the St. Oswald’s Centre. However, the buildings required renovation before being able to offer these community facilities. However, the buildings required renovation before being able to offer these community facilities.
GLM have been providing Architectural and Building Surveying support for the restoration of the buildings. Currently in the phase one programme, works are underway to secure the building, making it structurally stable, and wind and water tight. These are remedial works which will bring the facility up to a functional state and protect it from further damage.
Following this, the phase two programme will seek to improve the functionality of the buildings. As such, planning and listed building consent has been approved for a single-storey extension to the rear, installation of Air Source Heat Pumps and internal accessibility improvements.
