GLM’s Story Shared on the Edinburgh Business Stories Podcast

Our Managing Director, David Johnson, and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Ian McKee FRICS, FCABE, recently joined the Edinburgh Business Stories podcast to share GLM’s experience of adapting to industry change, embracing new skills, and evolving alongside our clients’ needs.

Inside the conversation

In a wide-ranging, hour-long conversation, David and Ian talk about the story behind the business and how it has developed alongside the property and construction industry. They discuss some of the more unusual projects GLM has worked on, from transforming a Cold War nuclear bunker into a data centre to helping redesign the famous John O’Groats signpost. They also reflect on how the firm moved from traditional drawing boards to digital technology, and on the principles that have guided the business throughout.

Looking back, and looking ahead

Reflecting on the conversation, Ian said:

“Looking back over the journey of the business, what stands out is how much has changed and how much hasn’t. The tools, the technology and the expectations on us have all moved on enormously, but our approach is still built on strong principles and a genuine commitment to our clients. Our people have always been willing to learn new skills and take on the unusual problems, and that’s what has kept us moving forward. It was a pleasure to look back on that story, and to look ahead to what comes next.”
