Week Two: Inverness…building a new Highland base

Last week marked an exciting new chapter in the GLM story as we launched our Highland venture with the opening of our Highland Regional Office in Inverness.  Led by our newly promoted Associate Director, Hannah Lloyd, the intention of the office is to bring GLM’s unique approach to the built environment closer to some of our core markets and key clients. It will also be the platform off which we will continue to build our tourism and hospitality solutions.

And what a first week it was.  Under beautiful sun split skies, we had meetings and site visits stretching the full length of the Great Glen from Spean Bridge where we undertook some aerial assessments to Cromarty where we met with and sampled some of the fantastic local businesses the Black Isle has to offer.  Exciting times ahead.

I was particularly pleased to announce to the Team on our weekly Monday Morning Meeting, held by video link with the Edinburgh Office, Hannah’s promotion to AD.  Back in May last year, on a road trip around Speyside, Hannah pitched to me the idea of an office in the Highlands. After spending the month of August further exploring the idea, I asked Hannah to put together a business case and a marketing strategy and the result is the opening of our first regional office.

Hannah now joins Neil, Kristy, Antonio, Liam, Joanne and Diane at senior management/associate level further strengthening and now expanding GLM’s service delivery to our clients.

Week two saw us heading to the west coast for an SLE event in Oban and north to our old stomping ground of Caithness for meetings in Wick and Thurso, picking up site visits and meetings in Tain and Invergordon on the way. And even included an overnight stay at our award-winning Inn at John O’ Groats, so that was special!
