Three Hotels…Three Islands

With offices in both Edinburgh and Manchester, no project is too far for the GLM team. We delight in working on projects in remote locations so we are thrilled to announce three appointments in the hotel & leisure sector for buildings located on three different Scottish Islands. Despite a heated Referendum campaign and rampant concerns about the future of the property market, GLM has seen an upsurge in independent investors eager to build their property portfolios in Scotland’s most remarkable destinations.

Lews Castle – Isle of Lewis

lewscastleGLM has been appointed by the operator Natural Retreats to design and manage the remodelling and fit-out of Lews Castle to create a 5 star establishment.  Working alongside Malcolm Fraser Architects who are developing the new Museum of the Western Isles, we have once again teamed up with Manchester based interior design firm and long-time collaborators NoChintz to deliver a complete regeneration of this stunning A-Listed castle.

Bosville Hotel – Isle of Skye

GLM has been appointed as Project Managers, Cost Managers and CDM Co-ordinators for the refurbishment of the Bosville Hotel on the Isle of Skye. The island is widely recognised as one of the country’s premier tourist destinations and the location of the hotel in the island’s ‘capital’ of Portree suggests fantastic potential for this particular redevelopment. GLM are excited to be working with one of the country’s leading design houses, Graven Images, to deliver the project.

Islay House – Isle of Islay

GLM has been appointed to deliver a scheme to convert the beautiful Islay House on the Island of Islay into an upmarket hotel.  With a highly experienced project team, GLM’s recent experience on Lews Castle – technically a very similar project – gives us a flying start. Islay is the most southerly of the Hebridean islands off the west coast of Scotland and is famous for its excellent (and famously unpronounceable) whiskies and wild links golf courses.
