Nominations open for the Helping it Happen Awards 2024

The Helping it Happen Awards ceremony is the most prestigious event in Scottish Land and Estate’s calendar year, showcasing and celebrating the best of rural Scotland.  Now in its 7th year, the awards are firmly established for recognising the vital contribution of Scotland’s rural businesses and community groups in advancing the sector.

Chief Executive of Scottish Land & Estates, Sarah Jane Laing comments; “The Helping It Happen Awards are our chance to celebrate the often-unsung heroes of rural Scotland. They represent a fantastic opportunity for us to share positive, real-life examples of action on climate change and nature restoration, education about the outdoors and work on promoting affordable rural housing. The work of people, businesses and initiatives nominated for these awards helps to create and sustain thriving rural communities, leading the way and inspiring others.”

This year the ceremony will also see an award for outstanding contribution to Rural Scotland, open to everyone – not just Scottish Land & Estate members as a real demonstration in how often unsung communities help Scotland thrive. Nominations are now open and will close on June 28th ahead of the gala awards ceremony in the autumn.

Edinburgh based architectural firm, GLM, are once again proud to be sponsoring the Tourism & Visitor Management Award. As key advisors to the sector, GLM are long-standing supporters of the tourism and leisure industry in Scotland with a specialist portfolio of work including bespoke lodge developments, hospitality innovations, visitor centres and numerous rural hotels and restaurants which share the best of Scotland’s scenery and larder.

GLM Managing Director Ian McKee comments, “We are thrilled to be supporting the Tourism & Visitor Management Award for the 7th year running. We continue to be inspired by the achievements in the category, making our own contribution to the transformation of Scotland’s built environment through our work with rural estates, individuals and tourism businesses even more meaningful”.

Marketing Executive at GLM Lilli Marshall comments, “GLM are once again proud to put our name to an award that celebrates the diversity of activity and opportunities that have been created in the rural sector over the past 12 months, recognising their outstanding work in supporting the economy, education, innovation in technology and the environment. We look forward to seeing the great advancements made in the coming months at this year’s ceremony”.

Sarah Jane Laing continues; “We are thankful for GLM’s enduring support that helps us to continue celebrating the very best of the rural Scotland, encouraging those in the rural sector to continue delivering for people, jobs and nature.”

Nominations for the Helping it Happen Awards 2024 are now open across 10 categories and must be submitted via the Scottish Land & Estates website by the deadline of June 28, with judging taking place shortly after.
