Scottish Borders

Brief and Response

Townhead is a recently renovated self-catered holiday let in the Scottish Borders. The property, which was formerly a farmhouse, sits with views across the Upper Tweed Valley to the hills beyond. Our client approached us to reconfigure the internal spaces of the dilapidated building to make it suitable for modern living, and to meet a high-standard of holiday accommodation.

As part of our role at Townhead we designed, achieved planning consent and specified a large, rear extension to the building. This extension added much-needed space that increased the capacity of the dwelling to appeal to larger groups or families.

The finished getaway is cosy yet eclectic: plush furnishings, an outdoor hot tub and sitooterie mean that guests can relax and unwind in comfort. Finally, the property was renovated to a high-level of energy efficiency meaning that the traditional building is comfortable for guests year-round and the operators are not strained by high running costs. The Project Team included Narro Associates as structural engineers and nextGenergy domestic energy assessors.
