Brief and Response
Working with American based Water Street Studios and LM Preservation, GLM was commissioned to produce a site survey and develop concept designs for the conversion of a large early 20th century stables at Bretton Woods in New Hampshire – part of the Mount Washington Hotel which is recognized as a National Monument.
Concept designs outlined a plan to repair and sensitively convert these historic timber stables into self-catering holiday accommodation in order to obtain entitlements for a larger development. While GLM have far more experience dealing with Scotland’s stone built farm buildings,
the same respect for the historic fabric combined with inspirational space planning and careful detailing was required and utilised on this particular job.
