GLM partner with community group to deliver an innovation campus in the North of Scotland.

Plans have been submitted by GLM for a Community Innovation Campus in Tain, Easter Ross. The campus will be home to ‘Gro For You’, which is a collaboration between two local award-winning social enterprises ‘For You Training CIC’ and ‘Gro For Good CIC’. The Gro For You Community Innovation Campus will specialise in providing vocational training, skills development and hospitality, set within inspiring purpose-built facilities.

The vision behind the campus is to provide high-quality vocational training in STEM, sustainable practices, and new age technologies, which will lead to greater innovation, employability and enterprise. Gro For You have recognised that there is an opportunity to link schools, community and industry at the Tain Campus, forming a centre of excellence which benefits the whole area.

The Campus is situated on farmland generously leased by the nearby Glenmorangie Estate, who are supporting the project. The site is prominently positioned next to the A9 and North entrance to The Royal Burgh of Tain, boosting the visibility of the campus. It is hoped that this will draw interest from the local community and tourists alike, to stop-by and tour the Campus. The Gro For You Community Innovation Campus will be one of a kind, siting a variety of geodesic domes which will house research facilities, an interpretation centre, aquaponic growing areas and more. Also at the Campus will be a Training Centre which will provide office space, training kitchen and a café, creating on the job learning opportunities for those attending the Innovation Campus.

Site Layout

GLM have teamed up with landscape designers HarrisonStevens to create a high-quality outdoor space surrounding the Campus, in recognition of its benefits for positive mental, emotional and physical health. Furthermore, the site layout aims to connect the training centre with the surrounding structures, landscape and wider Tain core path networks, making it a landmark destination for all users to enjoy.

This plan for an Innovation Campus in Tain reflects an overarching vision to create a sustainable future for this community. As such, we are delighted to have presented these plans which will fuel social, environmental and economic developments for Tain and the surrounding areas for years to come
