John O’Groats Wins Another Prestigious Award

It is fantastic to see the spectacular destination of John O’ Groats win another prestigious award, this time a Saltire Society Scotland Award for a wonderful sculpture by Dalziel + Scullion located in front of GLM’s RIAS and FCS award winning Inn at John O’ Groats for Natural Retreats.

Commenting on the award today, our MD and Project Director of the John O’ Groats Regeneration Project, Ian McKee, said, “I am delighted that Dalziel + Scullion’s sculpture has received this prestigious award.  It is further recognition of the success of this brave and visionary regeneration project undertaken at John O’ Groats against a particularly difficult economic backdrop.  A great deal of credit for this goes to the whole team involved including many local contractors, HIE, Highland Council, the Design and Construction Team and of course the joint venture partnership of Heritage GB and Natural Retreats. It is gratifying to see that the regeneration of this special place continues to this day.”

During the regeneration project, Ian worked closely with HIE to design in suitable locations for public art works and to select the various artists, including Dalziel + Scullion, who have contributed to the public realm installations.
