GLM Announces Date for Next Grand Designs Seminar

Part 3 of our highly successful Grand Designs seminar series is taking place on Friday, 15 April, at RICS Headquarters. This free event will tackle the key issues surrounding the planning and execution of small to medium sized building projects.

You’ve done your due diligence, have put together the perfect brief with your architect and have selected a procurement route, now it is time to execute your project on time and on budget. Our next panel of speakers will explore new and more efficient ways of project planning and execution and initiate a conversation around what works, what challenges and what lies ahead.

Speakers will include Pierre Puyrigaud, Head of Project Management with GLM, and guest speakers Charles Hayward of Griffiths & Armour and Peter Wilson of Timber Design Initiatives. Speakers will be on hand to discuss real life building project experiences and the important learnings to take away from these.

David Gibbon, Director and conservation accredited building surveyor at GLM, commented: “TV series such as Grand Designs have done a lot to inspire a generation in design. What they don’t do, however, is provide useful information on how to tackle a building project.

“This seminar is all about demystifying the process, helping developers and agents to avoid the often very costly pitfalls of inadequate due diligence and concept design.

“We have seen more and more first time developers taking on building projects in Scotland and have had a number of people come to us with major problems that had not been foreseen in the planning stages.

“The seminar will give people a snapshot of all the components required to provide both an enjoyable process and successful outcome for developers.”
