GLM achieves consent for Princes Street hotel redevelopment
GLM have obtained listed building and planning consent for a hotel redevelopment in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. The iconic former Forsyth’s department store on Princes Street will be adapted and re-used as a mixed-use space. Through converting the first floor retail area into further bedroom accommodation, this supports the existing, albeit empty, hotel development above and to the rear, to form a viable hotel enterprise.
Working on behalf of the building owner, GLM are now able to provide appropriate shell and care retail space on the ground and basement levels, and fully develop out and revitalise the upper floors for the hotel operator, Numa.
Numa is an emerging European hotel operator shaping a new guest experience through innovative digital solutions. Their vision is to create a fully digital stay, meaning guests use their smartphones to check-in/out, open their room and communicate with the digital guest service team.
