The RIAS Award Arrives at John O’Groats
Amid a triumphant award season for GLM that includes wins and shortlistings in some of the UK's most prestigious architectural awards, the RIAS Award for Tourism & Visitor Facilities was mounted on the Inn at John O'Groats by representatives from GLM and Natural Retreats over the weekend.

The Glasgow School of Art Tinderbox
Great confusion surrounds the subject of fire suppression in buildings. It has been reported that there were plans to fit a suppression system in the Mackintosh Glasgow School of Art building but not sprinklers “due to a concern about water damage”. In point of fact sprinklers would have avoided this disaster and the news item would have been “Fire results in puddle in Art College basement”. But it is highly doubtful that any other form of fire suppression system would have done the job in such a quirky building.

They go for a sleepover of course except, needless to say, just about the last thing they get round to is testing out the mattresses. This year industry experts converged on Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital city and Scandinavia’s leader in cutting-edge design and gastronomy.
